Boland 2 District

On 1 April 2023, churches all around the world were participating in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s special quarterly day of prayer and fasting.

This month we take an inspiring look at how our church family worshipped and served on this particular Sabbath in the Boland 2 District, led by Pastor K Songwiqi.

Franschhoek Church took time on Sabbath morning to engage in united prayer, interspersed with Bible readings to motivate and strengthen the church. The preacher for the day also talked about prayer and fasting.

In the afternoon, the congregation visited its Malawian branch where bags of clothing were donated for members who had lost most of their possessions in Malawi’s recent floods.

The church also took time in the afternoon to visit a family from the Franschhoek community to have a special baby welcome where a sermon was preached, prayer was offered and presents were shared.

Happy Valley Church took time to pray for young people with substance abuse problems. As Pastor Songwiqi’s wife left Happy Valley Church, a young man from the community approached her to ask her to pray for him to quit drinking alcohol. God was working in response to the prayers of the church! May we as the Church continue praying for our young people and those struggling with substance abuse.

They also identified families in need within the community and were able to serve a number of families this particular Sabbath. The church divided themselves into four groups and visited these families, provided them with some clothes, some food and some cash, and prayed for them.

On this Sabbath Mbekweni Church chose to reach out to church members whom they had not seen for a long time by visiting them.

Last but not least, Ikhwezi Lomso Church prepared and shared a meal with more than 60 people from the community – according to the number of plates and spoons the church had.

The Lord is willing to touch lives through those who make themselves available for His service.

We would love to hear what you and your local church are being inspired by the Holy Spirit to do for the community. Please share your story with us at wrnews@cc.adventist.org.
