So, you’ve just been appointed as Communications Secretary at your local church for 2023. Let’s be real, for some of us it’s only because, well, no-one else was keen to take on the responsibility. Your knowledge and experience is limited, but everyone tells you how great you’re going to be at this! Now that you want to get started, and the person you’ve taken over from has not done a hand-over, nor intends to and has left town with all the church’s social media credentials! You have no tools with which to work, and it looks like all you can do, is at very least, ensure that there is a black & white bulletin to distribute on Sabbath morning! Whoa, stop the printer!!! We have good news!
This scenario could look very different. If only you and others like you, had the support of a community of creatives and thought leaders at your fingertips. In the right environment, who knows, this may turn out to be the ministry you have been called to for life!
The Grow Show, a Cape Conference initiative, has been established to help grow the church through ministry. We are excited to engage you and other Communications Leaders around how we can provide our churches with the most effective, creative, relevant, and transformative ways to communicate and expand our reach even beyond its walls. This is not a training intervention but a resource provided by the Cape Conference to help you grow within your role & to find your creative community.
What works at your church? Are you faced with a particular dilemma in your role? What are some of the free tools and platforms that can be used to enhance your digital media? Is the way we view communications in the church one-dimensional and how do you see it in the future? What is the world-church best practice? What can we learn and what can they learn from us? What resources are provided by the General Conference that we are not aware of? These questions and many more will be discussed! You don’t want to miss it!
