There are many tools one can use to spread the gospel and YouTube is one of these effective tools to reach the masses. In this month’s edition we cover an exciting online ministry run by the Manenberg born YouTuber, Duane Robbert. Duane’s YouTube channel is called “Cry Aloud, Spare Not.” The Channel is just one of the platforms Duane uses to reach people with the three angels' messages alongside Train preaching. The name of the channel is taken from Isaiah 58:1 which states “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”
Duane further mentions that he was impressed to choose this name because he believes that this message is pertinent to the times. “As we know, Satan has managed to deceive the majority of churches into believing that God’s law has been done away with, and this subtle and extremely dangerous lie is a master craft of deception aimed at destroying souls. When we carefully consider the nature of this error, one cannot fail to realize that it opens the door to a multitude of sins and leads those who make a profession of faith in Christ to presumption and to disregard God’s authority. It also degrades men’s conception of justice and opens the way for Satan to imbue them with his attributes and hatred towards the government of heaven. The end result is a form of godliness without power by which no man can be saved. I believe the Lord has placed upon us the burden to put these matters in their proper light before the people,” Duane added. Therefore the focus of his ministry is to address these soul destroying corruptions and falsehoods that are pervasive in the Christian religion today. The people must be warned that they are in danger. Before it is too late. “I am very passionate about doing this because there is so much comfort in the truth. At the same time I am outraged at the fact that Satan has met with such great success in his endeavours to imprison men in a false sense of security. We live in a time where the word of God is accessible to all and yet, many accept blindly what comes from the pulpit and little to no investigation is made into the minister’s assertions. I now know that Satan’s success lies, not in open warfare against Christianity but in his infiltration of the church, and how well he uses the minister. I have spent twenty eight years of my life in error because of this! Completely oblivious to the many great truths that I’ve learnt since coming into the Advent faith. And I was born into the Christian Faith, I have been in church ever since I can remember but haven’t been taught any of these truths! This is why I have a great deal of empathy for those who are in darkness.”
Duane grew up in Manenberg, and is the 5th of 7 children under the tutelage of a single mother. Duane would later follow the faith of his mother, got baptised and confirmed in the New Apostolic Church at the age of 15. Growing up in Manenberg was quite difficult due to an early exposure to gangsterism, drugs, etc. Duane’s school, for example, was in the heartland of two rival gangs, that would occasionally shoot at each in a battle for turf during the day. “There were times our teachers would tell us to lay down on the classroom floor to avoid being hit by a stray bullet.” We were told to lie down on the classroom floor or leave school early and run for our lives. But it was not all doom and gloom. I had many good times at school as well, many good memories were made. Duane further recounts how he witnessed people being bullied, stabbed and even shot while he was just a boy. But through it all God’s grace sustained Duane and his family.
Sadly, Duane succumbed to the influences of the area and got trapped in alcohol and chain smoking. This continued for some time until he had a near death experience. The near death experience proved to be a blessing in disguise and God used this situation to work Duane’s salvation. It was in this dark moment that Duane received the Adventist light through the DvD Ministry. The DvD answered a barrage of life questions Duane had and increased his appetite for the Bible. The studies by David Ascherick led Duane to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was eventually baptised at Riverside SDA Church. Soon after his baptism Duane joined the Train Ministry which was organised by guys from Heideveld. We praise God for the life of Duane and for heaven’s untiring efforts to save and mold him.
To close off this segment we share with you Duane’s favourite verse in Revelation 21:4. The verse reads “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
