Local Ministry - Tirelessly working to win souls for Christ

We have an inspiring story to share with you. Meet Gibson Ncube, a dedicated Literature Evangelist who embarked on his ministry journey in 2005 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. After four years of serving in his hometown, he relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, in September 2009 and has continued his ministry ever since, tirelessly working to win souls for Christ.

It all began on April 5, 2005, shortly after Gibson's birthday. While reading his Bible and praying, a thought sparked within him, urging him to engage in Literature Evangelism. Curious about this ministry, Gibson sought guidance from a friend who had been involved in it for some time. At that point, he was working at an insurance company, selling policies. His friend explained the essence of the ministry—spreading the message through printed materials, conducting Bible studies, praying with people, enrolling them for Voice of Prophecy (VOP) courses, as well as preaching and teaching. It became evident to Gibson that this ministry was predominantly focused on outreach, involving door-to-door visits, office interactions, crusades, and even church planting.

Embarking on his new mission, Gibson faced a challenge—he had no capital and no books to showcase or sell. However, he firmly believed that wherever God led him, provision would follow. With borrowed copies of "Steps to Christ," Gibson set out, and to his amazement, the books were sold out within the day. In that single day, he managed to sell 23 copies of "Steps to Christ" and several children's books.

The impact of Gibson's ministry has been profound. Over the years, he has witnessed countless individuals making the life-changing decision to accept Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. During his time as a literature evangelist in Zimbabwe, Gibson and his team successfully planted five churches, which have since become well-established places of worship. Truly, God's work through Gibson's efforts has transformed lives and communities.

However, his ministry faced a major setback between 2014 and 2016 when Gibson's wife was tragically kidnapped and killed. Despite this devastating loss, Gibson's faith remained unshaken. He continued to spread the good news, undeterred by the challenges he faced.

The testimonies of those he encountered along the way, such as the ones below, serve as a testament to the profound impact his ministry has had:

  • Suzen, a resident of Delft, expresses how the books provided by Gibson's ministry have aided her spiritual growth.

  • Michael Minnis, another grateful individual, shares the positive influence Gibson's ministry has had on his life (see photo of Michael Minnis and family above).

Looking ahead, Gibson has ambitious plans for his ministry. His vision includes opening a Christian bookshop and establishing a vegetarian and vegan cooking school. With the imminent return of Christ, Gibson believes it is our duty to spread the gospel to the entire world and he seeks to actively participate in winning souls for Christ.

To those contemplating starting their own self-supporting work, Gibson offers words of encouragement. He draws inspiration from the apostle Paul, who supported himself as a tentmaker while diligently advancing the gospel. Gibson reminds us that we too can contribute to the advancement of the Three Angels' Messages by utilising our skills and resources in service to God.

As we conclude, let us reflect on the remarkable journey of Gibson Ncube, a Literature Evangelist who, against all odds, has remained steadfast in his mission to bring hope and salvation to the lost. May his story inspire us to embrace our unique callings and actively participate in the spreading of God's love and truth.
